Jenny has boundless energy when interested and motivated to accomplish a goal or task, she also is learning to play the violin, and has permission to stay after school for tutoring.

During the writing benchmark  she just sat there staring at the blank two pages wondering how she was going to even begin to fill them.

Her book selection process...

She would go to the library and look at the books every other girl was picking out and grab on of the same series or level. If they were showing off the number of chapters, then so would she. When we got back to class she would sit down and stare at the first page of the book, wait a few minutes and then get an easier book from the class library. She is ever hopeful that one day she will be able to read the kind of books her classmates read. The only thing in her way is her need to read much more than she is currently doing and read books within her zone of proximal development. Oh, and the fact that her classmates are not waiting around for her to catch up. They read or are read to for over an hour a day.
