Literacy Portfolio

Student Background:

Jenny has yet to settle down and study, the breakup of her family and birth of a child by her father's new wife have something to do with it. She seems to be caught in the middle of the situation and often gets pushed around. She needs more attention at home especially from her father, and also educational attention, and reading time.

Jenny comes to tutoring / homework help three times per week. She needs to get more out of it, she seems so happy to get some attention that she forgets why she is there. More positive reinforcement may be part of the answer.

Her classroom teacher has spoken to her father Sept. 8th, 16th, and 29th about the importance of reading with her. It seemed that he was very busy with the hospitalization of his new child and wife. In Oct. he told him on or around the 20th that he was in a car accident and had to recover before he could spend time with his daughter.

Jenny's classroom teacher spoke with Jenny's mother twice in November, twice in December and once in January, explaining the importance of getting her daughter to school on time and trying to help her with her homework. This girl needs attention.
