- Responses to Reflections on Framing Literacy 9,
Hi, my name is Peggy,
late signing on, but I've finally arrived. I'm interested in becoming a reading
teacher and eventually teaching English.
In Chapter 5 and 6, it was interesting to read about solving
the problems of children on different reading levels and how to use different
strategies in helping them develop from emergent to literacy, from print to
cueing, to become an effective reader.
I feel the only way to become an effective reader is to read.
So we must encourage students to learn to put together cues (while reading)
guess at words (take risk). Group and independent activities will build their
self-efficacies, to empower them to take another step in the reading process. To
improve their quality of reading, we should find out what their interest is;
have they traveled outside the home, do they visit zoos and museums; other
activities they enjoy.
Students will read books on their favorite topic. I think
trying to figure out a strategy for helping all student learn to read is going
to be a challenge. -Peggy
Peggy- Challenge is an understatement. So many other things get in the
way and you have to keep pushing what ever gets in your way out of your path and
keep going, and fail, and try again. It's great that we have a class such as
this to use as a resource. Justin.
