| Aug. 20, 2001 | This group will come to the learning lab on Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week, these classes will go to the Library. This will give the upper grades time to come in and use the Star program. | Upper grades will not come in class by class for instruction, instead groups will enter the lab to enter their Fine Arts Choices into the Magnet Database. | |||||
| Description | Kinder, First and Second will spend Monday thinking about what rules (see PowerPoint presentation or PowerPoint Show) a learning lab should have. They will practice sitting in their chairs and will use first crayons and paper to color a picture, next they will use a computer application with demonstration first, questions about what is different and what is the same will be discussed. A vote will be taken to find out what which the learners preferred (the results will be placed into an excel document which will graph their opinions -we will count the votes). Tuesday will be a review of both the rules and the results of the Excel Survey. | ||||||

| Progression | Most classes begin with a demonstration on the presentation TV. This period includes modeling expected skills and behaviors- followed by group practice and scaffolding. Learners are then regrouped forl work / practice / discovery... Each unit is closed with a review of what has been accomplished and how it fits into their academic lives. | ||||||
| Special Ed. Modifications | Teachers are encouraged to place exceptional children in the front of the line when they assemble outside of the Learning Lab. This affords them a close proximity to the instructor. Individual attention / interaction is provided by the programmed user interface response. | ||||||
