e-Lective language
learning was conceived by Dr. Jim Cummins, it is a means to second language acquisition.
Stories are read by learners in their second language, cognates are highlighted,
and more difficult vocabulary is linked to the appropriate or near equivalent
word in the learner's first language. This allows the reader to make meaning
faster thus allowing for more reading, increased comprehension, higher
self-efficacy, and literacy development.
